HISTORY OF MEAD BICYCLE COMPANY

 

The Mead Cycle Company was founded in 1889, by James L. Mead in Chicago, Illinois. The company was incorporated on March 10, 1898. The Mead company manufactured and distributed bicycles from their headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. In 1944, the Mead company was purchased by James F. Lynch, owner of a Chicago bicycle shop. The company went out of business in 1954.
