The overall winner of the 1973 Porsche Cup was German driver Clemens Schickentanz, racing for the Kremer Racing team. The "Porsche Cup" itself is a season-long award honoring the best private Porsche drivers based on their performance in various international races.
 
Schickentanz secured the title by competing in a Kremer 911 2.8 RSR and he also won the GT European Championship and his class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that year.
