This beautiful reproduction poster has been re-mastered from 1930's advertising postcards for the city of San Bernardino, Ca, and the Santa Fe Depot.

The vibrant colors and detail of this classic image have been painstakingly brought back to life to preserve a great piece of history.

The high-resolution image is printed on heavy archival photo paper, on a large-format, professional giclée process printer. The poster is shipped in a rigid cardboard tube, and is ready for framing.

The 13"x19" format is an excellent image size that looks great as a stand-alone piece of art, or as a grouped visual statement. These posters require no cutting, trimming, or custom framing, and a wide variety of 13"x19" frames are readily available at your local craft or hobby retailer, and online.

THE SAN BERNARDINO SANTA FE DEPOT

In June of 1886, the Santa Fe Railroad completed the first permanent depot at San Bernardino. It was a large 2-story wood-frame structure that housed passenger and freight depots, division headquarters, and a Harvey House Restaurant.

During the night of November 16th, 1916, the huge wooden building was destroyed by what has been described as “one of the city’s most disastrous fires ever.” San Bernardino’s city fathers asked the Santa Fe for a replacement depot that would befit the city’s image as “The Gateway City to Southern California” and the railroad obliged.

The current Mission-Revival style depot was opened to the public on July 15th, 1918. The grand old building provided many decades of service, but fell victim to the decline in rail travel.

After years of disuse and neglect, the rundown depot was purchased in 1992 by the City of San Bernardino, and the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG). A Metrolink passenger platform was added in 1993, and both Metrolink and Amtrak continue to provide service from the depot.

In June of 2004, the depot was reopened after undergoing a $15 million renovation project. Today, the renovated depot houses the San Bernardino Railroad and History Museum. The museum has an outstanding collection of historical displays from local railroads, and the city of San Bernardino. It is open to the public on Wednesday 9 AM - Noon, and on Saturday 10 AM - 3 PM.

The depot also houses the offices of SANBAG, a San Bernardino City Police substation, and a crew base for the Southern California Regional Rail Authority.

The San Bernardino depot is located at 1170 West Third Street, ½ mile west of the 215 freeway.
