PALESTINE – HOLY LAND

Palestine is a geographic region in Western Asia. It is usually considered to include Israel and the State of Palestine (i.e. West Bank and Gaza Strip), though some definitions also include part of northwestern Jordan. The region is also known as the Holy Land.

This “New Map of Palestine or Holy Land” was drawn and engraved in 1877 by cartographer William H. Gamble, in Philadelphia, PA. In addition to typical geographic features, this map shows modern and ancient cities, towns and villages, as well as ruins and holy sites. The map also has a large inset with details of “Modern Jerusalem.”
