HISTORY OF JUNE MOUNTAIN SKI RESORT
June Mountain ski area is a winter resort in the eastern Sierra Nevada of California, located near June Lake, southeast of Yosemite National Park, and north of Mammoth Mountain resort.
June Mountain opened in 1961 or 1962, and the resort expanded in the early years by adding more lifts and skiable terrain. It was purchased by Dave McCoy, owner of Mammoth Mountain in June 1986.
After closing for the 2012–2013 season due to financial difficulties, local activism led to its reopening in 2013 with a new focus on being family-friendly. The resort is now owned by Alterra Mountain Company, which also owns Mammoth Mountain.
The elevation at the base is 7,545 ft., and 10,090 ft. at the summit, with 1,500 skiable acres. There are 6 lifts, 2 quads, 4 doubles, and 1 carpet. The resort has 41 named trails, with the longest run at 2 miles (Silverado). Overall capacity is 10,000 rides per hour.
