HISTORY OF DONNER SKI RANCH
Donner Ski Ranch history began in 1937 with a rope tow installed by Jerry Ellis. After a break during World War II, the resort was purchased and upgraded by Stanley and Madeline Walton, who gave it its current name and built the first lodge and T-bar.
The resort was later owned for a long period by Norm Sayler, and since 2004 has been owned by Marshall and Janet Tuttle. The resort is notable for being one of the first in the nation to allow snowboarding and remains an affordable, family-friendly destination.
Key milestones in Donner Ski Ranch's history:

1955: Norm Sayler helps build the first chairlift.
1958: Norm Sayler takes over the resort and gradually buys most of the ownership.
