HISTORY OF HUSTLER-RUSTLER SNOWMOBILES
 
The Hustler-Rustler snowmobile was produced from 1967 to 1970. The Hustler design came from Motrak U.S.A., which was purchased by the Kelvin Thompson Company. The company then became Allied Manufacturing Company of St. Marys, Ontario. The sleds were eventually distributed across Canada and several U.S. states, including Alaska.
 
The Hustler had a unique roll bar feature that was integral to the windshield frame. The huge windshield extended all the way down the hood. Dual headlamps were standard equipment on the Hustler, while the Rustler had a single unit. Both sleds had a "fastback" rear storage compartment for a gas tank, tool kit, and other provisions. The units both had a "kickstand" feature that allowed safer warm-ups, and overnight storage with the track raised off the ground. Another unique option that didn’t work well was a motorcycle-style “twist grip” throttle. Overall sales were low, and company the ceased production after only four years.
